Julia and Alexander-3--14

Julia-Shchipkova Elena, Alexander-Alan Poulson Photography

Julia quickly stood, and exclaimed, “You have no right to tell me what I can and can’t do, Alexander!”

“I am the sheriff of this town!” Alexander exclaimed. “I am here to protect this town! As the sheriff, I have every right to tell you what you can and can’t do, Julia! And don’t you forget it!”

Glaring at Alexander, Julia exclaimed, “You are nothing but a thorn in my side! And right now, at this very moment, you sound just like your father!”

“Don’t ever compare me to the mayor again!” Alexander warned. “And don’t ever call him my father again!”

He then walked over to the back door, opened it, and watched as the rain poured down from the night sky.

Wrapping her arms around herself to keep warm, Julia walked up behind Alexander, stared at his wet back for a long moment, and then whispered, “I’m sorry.”

When Alexander was silent for a long moment, she didn’t think that he had heard her.

Finally, he turned back to stare down at her for a long moment before gently asking, “Why didn’t you pray in your bed?”

Without hesitation, Julia said, “I- I needed to come to this church to pray. I- I know that Nathaniel no longer preaches here. But for some reason that I don’t understand, I- I feel safe here. I- I needed to ask God to stand by me. But I doubt that he is listening to me. I- I needed to ask somebody to stand by me.”

Alexander was silent for a long moment before finally saying, “I can’t tell you if God is listening to you. But I can tell you that we all stand by you, Julia. We all stand beside you. Thunder Mountain – and The Lord Above Saloon – wasn’t the same when you left.” He was silent for a long moment before whispering, “I stand beside you, Julia.” Turning to face the rain once again, he said, “I will not take back my words regarding my feelings for you, Julia. But I won’t say them again until you’re ready to hear them, and hopefully reciprocate them.” He was silent for a long moment before adding, “I am asking you to marry me.” Turning back to face Julia once again, he stared at her for a long moment before finally asking, “Will you marry me, Julia?”

I am unwritten
Can’t read my mind, I’m undefined
I’m just beginning
The pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin

No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips

Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

I break tradition
Sometimes my tries are outside the lines
We’ve been conditioned
To not make mistakes, but I can’t live that way, no

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

3/4/14-Time to write my FINAL scene – the EPILOGUE – in Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia. 🙂 BTW, re: the song “I HOPE” by the Dixie Chicks, lead singer Natalie Maines – who just released her debut solo album “MOTHER” – is the inspiration model for my heroine Danny (Book 3 – Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Devil and The Lord – Danny).

3/4/14-I LOVE choosing the PERFECT songs that fit my scenes. My song pick for this second to final scene is “I HOPE” by the Dixie Chicks. Here is a small snippet of the scene, the song, and the lyrics:

Standing in the doorway, Sheriff Alexander Main took his wife’s hand in his, and said, “It’s time for us to head home, Madame Rose.”

“Where’s our four-legged, furry son?” Julia asked.

“He’ll be spending the night with Cowboy Dave and Mabel tonight,” Alexander said.

“Good,” Julia said. Smiling a naughty smile, she rose up on her tiptoes, and whispered something in her husband’s ear.

When he blushed, she laughed, and then added, “It’s time for you to lock me up, throw away the key, and have your wicked way with me, Sheriff Main.”

Smiling a just as naughty smile, Alexander said, “It’ll be my pleasure, Madame Rose. It’ll definitely be my pleasure.”

Sunday morning, heard the preacher say
Thou shall not kill
I don’t wanna hear nothing else about killing
And that it’s God’s will

‘Cause our children are watching us
They put their trust in us
They’re gonna be like us

So let’s learn from our history
And do it differently

(I hope)
For more love, more joy and laughter
(I hope)
We’ll have more than we’ll ever need
(I hope)
We’ll have more happy ever afters
(I hope)
We can all live more fearlessly

And we can lose all the pain and misery
(I hope)
I hope

Oh Rosie, her man he gets too rough
All she can say is, He’s a good man
He don’t mean no harm
He was brought up that way

Our children are watching us
They put their trust in us
They’re gonna be like us

It’s okay for us to disagree
We can work it out lovingly

(I hope)
More love, more joy and laughter
(I hope)
You’ll have more than you’ll ever need
(I hope)
There’ll be more happy ever afters
(I hope)
We can all live more fearlessly

And we can lose all the pain and misery
(I hope)
I hope

There must be a way to change what’s going on
No I don’t have all the answers

But I hope
For more love, more joy and laughter
(I hope)
You’ll have more than you’ll ever need
(I hope)
You’ll have more happy ever afters
(I hope)
And you can all live more fearlessly

And you can lose all your pain and misery
(I hope)
I hope

I hope
I hope

3/4/14-One of my heroines (won’t tell you who) gives birth to twins on Halloween 1881. But first, her dad makes a special appearance for his grandchildren’s birth. I won’t tell you who the heroine is. But if you’ve read the other six books, you’ll know that only one – so far – of my heroines has a daddy. So can you guess which heroine has a daddy visiting her, and is giving birth to twins? Post your answer below this status.

3/4/14-I am writing my two final scenes, and then I’m done!!! 🙂

3/4/14-Time to finish the scene that I’m working on now, and then the last two scenes of my book, and I’m done! 🙂

3/4/14-My third to last scene – since I’m adding a third scene – a small snippet – is set on October 31, 1881 – Halloween 1881. This is the second time that Halloween is celebrated in the Thunder Mountain Brides Series. The first Halloween – Halloween 1880 – was very, very memorable because it was the night that Edith and Zachary (Book 1 – The Outlaw Schoolteacher – Edith) made love in the barn. This Halloween – Halloween 1881 – will also be very, very memorable. All I’ll say is that a heroine (I won’t say who) announces that she is pregnant, and another heroine (I won’t say who) gives birth to twins. Twins seem to be popular in Thunder Mountain! There must be something in the water! 🙂

3/4/14-My full cover for THUNDER MOUNTAIN BRIDES:  THE ROSE AND THE THORN – JULIA – Julia Roston AKA Rose/Madame Rose and Sheriff Alexander Main. BTW, something SO IRONIC and COOL!!! – I just e-mailed the photographer of the female model, and sent her this cover, and she said that the model’s name was Julia. WOW!!! 🙂

3/4/14-Time to reveal my AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL new book cover for my new book THUNDER MOUNTAIN BRIDES:  THE ROSE AND THE THORN – JULIA!!! 🙂

3/3/14-I did some writing on Thunder Mountain Brides: The Rose and The Thorn – Julia on my iPhone Notepad, and am going to copy and paste it into my document now. I wrote some amazing, amazing, amazing scenes on my break tonight!!! :)

3/3/14-The third to last scene that I’m writing now – won’t tell you which heroine it’s with, and don’t worry – she doesn’t get murdered – is an ODE to a scene in both a book and a TV miniseries of the same name – Book 3 and Film 3 in the NORTH AND SOUTH Series AKA HEAVEN AND HELL. The book was written by John Jakes. In the book and film scene, Constance Flynn Hazard (Wendy Kilbourne portrays her in the film) is murdered by the evil Elkanah Bent (Philip Casnoff portrays him in the film). Because Constance was one of my favorite characters, the heroine in my series will get a similar fate. The only difference is, unlike Constance, this unnamed heroine (you’ll have to read the book to find out who it is) is saved from her fate.

3/3/14-I have three scenes left to write in Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia. WOW!!! 🙂 I can’t believe it!!! Three scenes left!!! 🙂 Writing this book has been a quick, joyful journey. And since I have three scenes left, I will be able to show you the finished cover art when I get it sent to me – it should be in the next day or two. 🙂 Three scenes left!!! HEE-HAW!!! 🙂

3/3/14-WOW!!! 🙂 I think that out of all the love scenes that I’ve written in my Thunder Mountain Brides Series so far, that this love scene between Julia and Alexander is the BEST one that I’ve written so far!!! WOW!!! 🙂

3/3/14-WOW!!! Julia and Alexander’s real wedding night is turning very passionate and heated, and I’m not talking about their lovemaking!!! They are arguing at the moment. And there’s pouring rain, thunder, and lightning involved. Their arguing will make their lovemaking all the more passionate and beautiful when they finally stop arguing, and get around to it!!! 🙂

3/3/14-Time to do some more AWESOME writing today on Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia. I think that I have several scenes left to write, and should be done with the writing part today. 🙂 Here I am at my Jane Austen-like writing desk, looking out at this beautiful March 3rd morning.

March3

3/2/14-While working on Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia right now, I’m going to listen to Natalie Maines’ BRILLIANT and BEAUTIFUL debut solo album MOTHER.

3/2/14-WOW! This book is getting more and more exciting by the minute! 🙂 OK – we now have Alexander’s and Julia’s pasts revealed – having to do with mercenaries and prostitution and accidental murder and forced marriage. Now we have a little twist having to do with Common-law marriage. I can’t really go into the Common-law marriage twist, but I will say that it’s a BIG PLUS for Julia and Alexander, and they’re now off the hook for committing Polyandry. If you don’t remember what I revealed about Polyandry, look it up! 🙂 I really have no idea where I get these thoughts and ideas from. 🙂 They just come to me. 🙂

3/2/14-OK. I am writing Julia’s key flashback scene that reveals the truth about her past right now, and it’s now flowing smoothly. 🙂

3/2/14-As the writer, I’m supposed to call the shots! In this case, my characters are the ones calling the shots! 🙂 This is why I don’t outline my stories in advance. Something that I plan to write in a future scene or story ends up either not written or totally changed. Re:  Julia AKA Rose/Madame Rose, I revealed snippets of her past throughout my series. Only now am I revealing a key scene from her past in her book. And, I don’t know what it is! I’m on this scene now, and I need to think about what to write. And I don’t mind! I like not knowing! I like leaving it up to my characters to tell me what they want! Still, I really need Julia to help me right now. 🙂 Alexander’s past – which I only just learned now – was easy to write. Julia’s past is a little more difficult to write. I’m up for the fun challenge! 🙂

3/2/14-Gee, this is really turning into a Soap Opera where characters are revealing their deep, dark secrets and dark, shady pasts! I’m kind of jealous that my characters have deep, dark secrets and dark, shady pasts, and I don’t! 🙂

3/2/14-After a roll in the hay, and a delicious birthday supper and pumpkin pie, we are now getting back into Thriller/Murder mode. Sadly, I had to kill of two more characters. Sadly, the victims weren’t human. You’ll understand what I mean when you read the book. I don’t want to reveal whom I had murdered. If I were to kill off any more humans – we are talking supporting characters here – there would be no one left in the town for the 10 heroines and 10 heroes to interact with. I always vowed never to kill off non-humans. But in this case, the storyline called for it. 😦

3/2/14-Here’s a continuation snippet of the pumpkin pie instead of cake scene:

Smiling a happy smile, Julia looked at Mabel, and asked, “How did you know that I prefer pumpkin pie to cake?”

“Hunter and Danny told me,” Mabel said. “Since I’m still not very good at making pies, Agnes made it.”

3/2/14-When it comes to my birthday, I don’t want cake. I always get a pumpkin pie – even though it’s August. So this small snippet that I’m sharing has Julia celebrating her birthday – October 14th – and having pumpkin pie – her favorite – instead of cake:

After the last bites of delicious birthday supper and pumpkin pie had been eaten, Mabel provided coffee for Cowboy Dave and Alexander and tea for Julia and herself.

3/2/14-I requested today off from Work because of the Oscars, and right now, at 8:29 AM, I am sitting at my Jane Austen-like desk, with my Un-Jane Austen-like laptop, and am going to do some AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME writing on Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia.

2/20/14-Re:  the scene that I was working on last night, I didn’t want to mention that it had happened to me once last night because it was too scary to mention before going to bed. No, I’m not talking about Julia and Alexander making out after a murder. 🙂 Julia had a nightmare that Roger Smythe came into her room after the murder hours earlier. While it wasn’t intentional when I wrote this scene, I suddenly realized, after writing this scene, that it had happened to me. Back in 1985, when I was 10, The Night Stalker was terrorizing Los Angeles. In March – I believe – of 1985, I dreamt that The Night Stalker came into my room. Too many bad memories to deeply go into this. But I believe that this incident was what gave me my LOVE/PASSION for True Crime. Usually, when I’m scared of something, I avoid it. In this case, I became a Passionate Fanatic of True Crime.

2/19/14-How nice of Julia and Alexander to be making out when a murder just occurred hours before! 🙂

2/18/14-Time to do a little writing on Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia before leaving for Work.

2/17/14-I wanted to post this scene because it really has a THRILLER/MYSTERY feel to it:

CHAPTER NINE

DEPUTIES

Nine of the clock that night

While Hunter, Danny, and Marjorie comforted Julia in one room, Nathaniel, Agnes, and Tammy comforted Lee in another.

Standing in the room where Victoria Mitchell’s body, now lying on Julia’s bed, covered with a blanket, had been found, Alexander, Damien, and Josiah quietly discussed the security precautions needed in order to protect the frightened citizens of Thunder Mountain.

“I think that we should make Josiah, Oliver, and Ian deputies, Alexander,” Damien said.

Smiling, Alexander said, “You’re absolutely right, Damien.” Looking at Josiah, he said, “Josiah Porter, I would be honored if you’d accept the position as one of my deputies.”

Smiling, Josiah said, “I would be honored to accept the position as one of your deputies until Roger Smythe is found and hanged for his crimes.”

“Actually, the job offer is permanent,” Alexander said.

Josiah stared at Alexander for a long moment before finally holding out his hand to him.

Alexander did not hesitate to take it, and said, “You, Damien, Ian, and Oliver will make this sheriff proud.”

“We won’t let you down, Boss,” Josiah said.

            “You’d better not!” Alexander exclaimed.

            The three men laughed.

Long moments passed before Josiah looked at the blanketed body on the bed, and finally said, “I need to start work on building a coffin for Victoria.”

Alexander nodded, and then said, “I need to speak with Julia. It’s time to learn the truth about why she married Roger Smythe.”

“Shouldn’t you wait until morning, Alexander?” Damien asked.

Alexander stared at Damien for a long moment before saying, “The bodies are piling up, Damien. We don’t have time to wait until morning!”

2/17/14-HEE-HAW!!! I found my PERFECT Posse Song for Sheriff Alexander Main and his Deputies – Chief Damien Midnight Storm, Josiah Porter, Oliver Medina, and Ian Grant in Thunder Mountain Brides: The Rose and The Thorn – Julia.

You chuck it on this one
You chuck it on your mother and
You chuck it on your father
You chuck it on your brother and
You chuck it on your sister
You chuck it on that one and
You chuck it on me
(CHORUS x2)
Nobody naw give you no break
Police naw give you no break
Not a soldier mona give you no break
Not even you idren naw give you no break

Why did you have to act so mean
Don’t you know you’re human being
Born of a mother with the love of a father
Reflections come and reflections go
I know sometimes you want to let go
Hey hey hey
I know sometimes you want to let go
Bad boys, bad boys
A whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do
When they come for you
(You’re too bad, you’re too rude)
(You’re too bad, you’re too rude)
Bad boys, bad boys
A whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do
When they come for you
You chuck it on that one
You chuck it on this one
You chuck it on your mother and
You chuck it on your father
You chuck it on your brother and
You chuck it on your sister
You chuck it on that one and
You chuck it on me
CHORUS
(repeat to the end)

2/17/14-IT’S POSSE TIME!!! 🙂 Alexander is the sheriff of Thunder Mountain, and hired Damien to be his deputy. He’s now making Josiah, Oliver, and Ian deputies, too. 🙂 Now I need a good POSSE TIME song!!! 🙂

2/17/14-Wow! I’m just whacking off people in Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia left and right! I know, I know – it’s whacking – but I’m a Rebel With A Cause. 🙂 OK – I’m brutally murdering people in Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia left and right. Is that better? 🙂 You thought that Marta was bloody? Wait until you read Julia! 🙂 Although we know who’s doing the whacking off- murdering, it’s still an AWESOME Wild West Mystery/Thriller! 🙂

2/17/14-Time to do some AWESOME writing on Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia since I’m off today. 🙂 BTW, Julia – Book 7 – will be out in March. This is the first time EVER! that two of my books will be out a month apart. 🙂

2/5/14-Since I just mentioned below that Alexander and Julia are getting married – a Polyandry wedding for Julia – if this were a film, which it will be, this is the song that would be playing – a repeat of “Somebody Stand By Me” sung by Faith Hill and written by Sheryl Crow.

It’s quiet here tonight
There’s a light burnin’ far away
It burns in my heart, in the rain, in the dark
Well, this girl’s gonna have her day

I’ve been this alone for so long
I’m beginning to wonder why
I stand in one place, different name, different face
But no one’s gonna see me break down and cry

Won’t somebody stand by me
Stand by me just one time
Won’t somebody stand by me
Stand by me just one time

Lord, I don’t understand
What’s slipping through these hands
You’d think by now I’d know when to let go, here I am
Won’t somebody stand, stand by me

I’m not bending tonight
But I’m twisted and turned and broken down
I’m starting to know the sound
Of nothing and no one and yet everything

Well, if God’s here tonight, are you here tonight?
Maybe you could grab me up
Lord, stand me on my feet, give me strength and set me free
‘Cause I’m not giving in until I’ve had enough

Won’t somebody stand by me
Stand by me just one time
Won’t somebody stand by me
Stand by me just one time

Oh, I don’t understand
What’s slipping through these hands
You’d think by now I’d know when to let go, so here I am
And I’m throwing down my one last hope, here I am
Won’t somebody stand, stand by me

Stand by me, stand, stand by me
Won’t somebody stand by me
I need, I need just somebody

I don’t understand
What’s slipping through these hands
You’d think by now I’d know when to let go, here I am
And I’m throwing down my one last hope

Won’t somebody stand by me
Stand by me just one time
Won’t somebody stand by me
Stand be me just one time

I don’t understand
What’s slipping through these hands
You’d think by now I’d know when to let go, here I am
Won’t somebody stand

2/5/14-My new scene is title “Committing Polyandry”. Polyandry is a form of polygamy whereby a woman takes two or more husbands at the same time. There’s a reason why Julia commits Polyandry, and it’s not a bad one. It kind of happens by accident because Alexander won’t listen to her when she tries to explain that she’s already married. That’s all I’m going to say on this. 🙂 You’ll have to read the book. 🙂

2/5/14-I did some writing on Thunder Mountain Brides: The Rose and The Thorn – Julia on my iPhone Notepad, and am going to copy and paste it into my document now.

2/4/14-First, while I thought that I had written Alexander as having short hair, I only wrote that he has golden-blond hair. Since the model for Alexander has long hair, I wrote:

His golden-blond hair having grown to just below his shoulders since she had left Thunder Mountain, he looked more like an outlaw than a sheriff.

Second, Julia’s and Alexander’s book is called The Rose and The Thorn. We know that The Rose part comes from Julia being known as Rose/Madame Rose. The Thorn part – Alexander – comes from what I just wrote:

Glaring at Alexander, Julia exclaimed, “You are nothing but a thorn in my side!

2/3/14-I just found the 4 photos that’ll make up my models and my front and back covers for Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia. Again, I am using photos from Shutterstock. I thought long and hard about this because I had asked dear friends to pose for me. But Shutterstock is cheaper and easier, especially since the models already have the costumes and background settings. So here are the 4 photos for the front and back covers for Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia. The heroine is Julia AKA Rose/Madame Rose, and the hero is Alexander AKA Sheriff Alexander Main.

2/3/14-The scene that I’m working on now is called “Somebody Stand By Me.” When I first heard this song years ago, I knew that it would be perfect for my future heroine Julia, who is in a church, asking somebody – God? Alexander? – to stand by her. Yes, this scene/song in my mind was created years ago, and is now just being written down. 🙂 Here is the song and lyrics. It’s sung by Faith Hill, and written by Sheryl Crow. I can so very relate to this beautiful song and these beautiful lyrics:

It’s quiet here tonight

2/2/14-Time to do some writing on Thunder Mountain Brides: The Rose and The Thorn – Julia. I am not at my Jane Austen-like desk. I’m now on my bed in my bedroom, and will be watching the Super Bowl while writing. I was forced to move to my bedroom because stupid Time Warner Cable froze! I am now watching the game on Channel 273 in Spanish. Hey, it wasn’t like I was understanding the game in English! 🙂

1/23/14-While I’m waiting to go over the text blurb for my back cover for Thunder Mountain Brides:  Complicated – Marta – Book 6 – with Gary Simonian so that I can send it to Michael Hebler to put on the back cover, I am going to start work on my new book – Thunder Mountain Brides:  The Rose and The Thorn – Julia – Book 7. I already started writing it on my iPhone notepad on my Work breaks, and will copy and paste it into my Word Document. My heroine is Julia Roston AKA Rose/Madame Rose – who, with Hunter Lord (The Devil and The Lord – Danny – Book 3), is the co-owner of The Lord Above Saloon, and my hero is Sheriff Alexander Main – the older brother of Marjorie Windstorm (Forbidden Love – Marjorie – Book 4).
